About the collection

We are moving towards a culture where electronic devices are so integrated into our daily lives that we can no longer imagine life without them. Our obsession is, in a sense, not very different from the idea of worship and religious ecstasy. The same neurological processes that would have resulted in mental and psychological stimulation could come from either a truly spiritual experience or getting to the next level of Candy Crush. I took this idea of religious worship, and our slow replacement of religion with the devices of our time. We create more and more intelligent devices, and are on the brink of creating fully functional artificial intelligences. We are in a sense becoming God, creating in our own image.  What will happen when the AI replaces us, when we become obsolete?  How will they interpret our religious ideas and stories? I use the most familiar stories, in many cases Biblical tales, and integrate them digitally into biotechnical environments in order to present a world after our own obsolescence saturated with our culture and technology, made in our own image.
